URBAN DRIVESTYLE and SWOBBEE with exclusive Battery-as-a-Service collaboration

The large-scale station offer of the exchangeable battery network provider SWOBEE now extends the usage radius of the URBAN DRIVESTYLE Bike Community. Effective immediately, URBAN DRIVESTYLE’s Uni Mk Classic and Uni Swing utility e-bikes will be delivered with SWOBBEE-compatible AES batteries. At exchange stations, the battery can be exchanged for a full one in just a few seconds, if necessary.

The once rivals will team up: Uber and taxi companies are cooperating in New York

Uber will team up with two taxi companies, Curb and CMT, to allow New Yorkers to order a yellow taxi on the Uber app. The fare will be based on Uber’s pricing and policies, including surge pricing, which can significantly increase the cost at peak times. Uber has discovered that partnering with taxi companies instead of fighting them can turbocharge its business. The company wants every taxi in the world on its platform by 2025.

VW’s Electrify America unveils new ‘human-centered’ EV charging stations

These charging stations will be installed in several cities in California and New York, complete with solar panel awnings and a lounge-like waiting area. Recharging times for electric vehicles can vary depending on the vehicle type and power source. Electrify America says the goal is to create “a more inviting transition to an electric vehicle lifestyle from traditional gas station.”

Londoners urged to avoid ‘unnecessary car journeys’ after high pollution alert

Mayor of London Sadiq Khan has issued a high pollution alert for the U.K. capital. “I’m urging Londoners to look after each other by choosing to walk, cycle or take public transport, avoiding unnecessary car journeys […|” Khan said. Earlier this month, it was announced that Khan had asked Transport for London to consult on making the city’s Ultra Low Emission Zone London-wide from 2023.

Funding increase for green living environment in Singapore

The Ministry of National Development allocates $45 million to spur innovations such as energy-efficient cooling technologies in buildings which can then be showcased to encourage companies to adopt innovative solutions. The Ministry of National Development (MND) will also invest $64 million in research and development under the Cities of Tomorrow programme, which addresses challenges towards an inclusive and green living environment.

Battery-as-a-Service pioneer Swobbee receives nearly €6 million from EIT InnoEnergy and existing investor

EIT InnoEnergy is contributing just under EUR 3 million to the total financing, while the existing investor is contributing a similar amount. With the newly raised capital, Swobbee plans to proceed with the development of its battery platform and massively expand its battery swap station network for electric micromobility in Germany and its European neighbors.

Singapore Green Plan 2030

The development of Singapore’s mobility sector goes hand in hand with climate change mitigation measures. 

Singapore Green Energy Plan 2030 envisions 7 EV-Ready Towns with chargers at all HDB carparks to be implemented by 2025. Among the key targets of the Plan are 60,000 charging points nationwide by 2030, including 40,000 in public carparks and 20,000 in private premises.

Berlin plans to add 2000 public charging stations until 2030

The state of Berlin has comissioned an increase in public charging stations for electromobility. This includes a special focus on fast charging stations in all Berlin districts. All charging points created in public spaces must remain equally and conveniently accessible for all users with conventional charging cables (“Berlin model”).

This ban will force residents to use electricity for heat and cooking. City Council Speaker Corey Johnson explains the vote: “The bill […] will (help) us to transition to a greener future and (reach) carbon neutrality by the year 2050”. The plan is to cut carbon emissions in the long-term by stopping to use fossil fuels to generate power.

More than 350,000km have been travelled in London with TIER since June

A new analysis from the micro-mobility provider TIER has revealed that the e-scooters are being used frequently within our partner city London. Other data shows that popular time for e-scooter rides are at 6pm, with an average journey time of less than 20 minutes. TIER management is happy that their products are “being recognised as a convenient, quick way to travel”

New German government coalition aims for 15million EV cars by 2030

The “traffic light” coalition of social democrats (SPD), greens and liberals (FDP) have signed their coalition treaty. A major adaptation of the Mobility sector is the aim of 15 million electric vehicles on German roads by 2030. Besides that, investments in rail should grow to be considerably more than investments in roads and rail freight transport is aimed to increase by 25%.

Volkswagen acquires stake in energy investor EIT InnoEnergy

Volkswagen has found a new partner in the energy sector: the automaker is taking a stake in the startup and energy investor EIT InnoEnergy. EIT InnoEnergy focuses on investments in the renewable energy sector. The collaboration between the two companies aims to promote technologies that can help reduce CO2-emissions in the mobility sector.

One year of subsidy program for private wallboxes in Germany

Just under a year ago, in November 2020, the German Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure (BMVI) launched its first funding program for the installation of charging devices on private residential buildings. By the end of the funding program, applications for almost one million charging points had been submitted to the KfW project management agency and approved.

New York City announces $75 million in new investments for electric vehicles and charging infrastructure

The NYC Mayor’s Office announced a $75 million investment in electric vehicles and electric vehicle charging infrastructure to support the City of New York’s vehicle fleet. The funding will help make the nation’s greenest municipal vehicle fleet even greener by installing 275 electric vehicle charging stations, replacing 300 gas-powered city fleet vehicles, and retrofit diesel-powered trucks to run on electric.
