The year 2021 will end with a record of around 350,000 new passenger car registrations for pure electric vehicles in Germany. This is an increase of 80% compared to 2020. Market leader is Volkswagen. Germany is now the third-largest single market for all-electric vehicles after China and the United States.

Electricity would already be cheaper today with a Full Supply of 100% Renewables

By 2025 at the latest, an energy system based on 100% renewables in Germany would be significantly cheaper than power generation with fossil fuels, finds a recently published study by the Energy Watch Group. From 2025, even conventional power plants that have already been built and depreciated will no longer be able to compete economically with newly built systems with 100% renewable energy.
